West Chester Borough police were called to the 100 block of East Nields Street just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, for a report of a fight, the department said in a release.

Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from "severe facial and head injuries" from being hit with a glass beer bottle, they wrote. James A. Jones, a 20-year-old West Grove resident, was arrested at the scene, police said.

Authorities did not report the victim's condition.

Jones is charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor possessing an instrument of crime, and simple assault, according to the release. State court records show he posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond on Sunday, March 26, and that he is due back for a preliminary hearing on April 4.
